FREE Support Group Workshop: Recruitment and Raising Community Awareness

Support Group 101: Recruitment and Raising Community Awareness. This workshop is free of charge and open to any support group facilitator, support group member, professional who works with support groups, or community group.

Workshop Details:

Date and Time: Saturday, February 11th: 9:30a.m. – 12p.m.

Topics: Community awareness, recruitment strategies, marketing, practical exercises, support group specific plan of action.

Workshop Facilitator: Sam King, Self-Help Center Coordinator

Strength Network: A New Domestic Violence Support Group

A Woman’s Place, the domestic violence shelter serving Champaign County and surrounding areas, is starting a new domestic violence support group. The support group, Strength Network, will be held on Thursday’s from 5:30-6:30 pm at A Woman’s Place, (1304 E Main St, Urbana, IL 61802).

The group will start on Thursday, December 8th. Individuals interested in partcipating in the support should contact A Woman’s Place, 217-352-7151 to set up an intake appointment. If an individual is unable to set up an intake appointment prior to a Thursday support group meeting than intake appointments are avaible on a first come first serve basis from 5:00-5:30 before each meeting.
As part of the support group, individuals will have access to all of the services provided by A Woman’s Place including: assessment and treatment plans, counseling, domestic violence education, Court Advocates, and Children’s Advocates.
*Child care and a Spanish translator are available
